opt + ] – visibility is currency

The research project opt ​​+] includes a book and a video. The work examines masks as artefacts of cultural and social hierarchies and technical developments.

The mechanisms of representation change with social conditions – to what extent can historical roots of masks be translated into our present? Central questions of the filmic essay are the necessity and forms of visibility in the present and the future. The ambiguity of the mask – the concealment on the one hand and the revealing on the other hand – are negotiated.
